yeah, and last time it didnt take him too long to set up a new domicile. hopefully the same occurs this time.

hopefully this shutdown had nothing to do with someone on this forum (who shall remain nameless) linking the site in one of his posts. nothing like drawing attention to the actual webpage (not too bright on his part)

Damn, I quite enjoyed that site. A lot of interesting stuff on there that I wouldn't have ventured into a music store and bought, but to be able to sample it first was pretty cool.

Can anyone offer some insight as far as how to check when it does come back? Can I just google the blog name, or does he change that each time?

One of the last things he had posted was the soon to be released Drive-By Truckers album. Personally I buy the commercial releases of the bands I favor. (I don't have an opinion on what others do, so no shit storm please). It's possible that other factors were at work.

i tend to do the same - if it is a band i enjoy. I still like having the actual CD - old fashioned and maybe a waste of actual space, but there is something about having the physical product in hand.

also, i like to support the newer artists who have not necessarily already made millions on their work (i.e. someone like Ray LaMontaigne etc)

I totally agree, I like to support the bands I know I like. But the upside to these kinds of sites are that you can get turned on to certain artists you otherwise probably wouldn't know anything about.

A good example is a friend of mine mentioning that Arturo Sandoval was good. That wasn't enough to get me to buy anything, but I d/l'd a few tracks from Napster (in the free days), really dug what I heard, and have made sure to catch him live whenever I can. And of course now I will buy any CD he puts out.

This is why the artist here at LMA are the ones we should be supporting. These bands say, "Here's what we're playing live. Check it out. Come see us in your town, or buy a record."

I think these bands are cooler and smarter than non-taper-friendly bands.

"I will pick up the hook.
You will see something new.
Two things. And I call them
Thing One and Thing Two.
These Things will not bite you.
They want to have fun."
Then, out of the box
Came Thing Two and Thing One!
And they ran to us fast.
They said, "How do you do?
Would you like to shake hands
With Thing One and Thing Two?"

Oh great!? Show up on a day when I haven't posted an insult lately...jeezzz, you really know how to get me riled up. I've wasted two or three really good ones (er, well, okay--just the usual lame attempts at humor) and I don't think you even saw them. Talk about ungrateful; the least you can do is show up to take your abuse.

Hmmm, like the Pats and the Cards? Yikes--Brett Favre does remind me of me, except for the part about throwing a football 50 yds. I can and have had 12 stiches in my chin--does that count for anything?

he was up for a while as "jolly joker's soundboard heaven" but that went down a few months back. i loved that he was posting full tours for easy downloading, was getting copies of a lot of the shows i had seen. there were a few fits and starts when the soundboard heaven went down, maybe a move to a private, invite only blog, but now it all seems to be gone.

he seemed pretty dedicated to what he was doing so it's hard to imagine he isn't doing it somewhere. i'd like to find him if so.

Now, now, Mr. Wolf. I highly doubt that my link had anything to do with anything. Besides, I got the link on a quick google. He was linked to half a dozen other blogspot sites. The guy wanted it to be known. Otherwise, he would have password encrypted it.

I am sure it was shut down due to its notoriety and the fact that it hosted damn near every official Jerry release, the whole Allman Bros Beacon run, and on and on and on.

Really, you give me too much credit.

i doubt it as well - that is why i used the word "hopefully" - and certainly had no intention of calling you out, hence no name. sorry if you felt i did.

certainly not the first time the guy's site has disappeared. many reasons why he would be shut down - the dead and allmans are only about 10% of the site, if that.

I don't mind my name being used. The thread was really asking opinions about the internet and those who post copywrited material. I probably should have just said Jolly Joker.

Of course, I could have been Cindy Lou Who . . . .
